My Little Brother - The World Needs More Like Him

The Guzzler 106km—One of Australia’s Toughest Ultra Races.

Brutal climbs, rugged terrain, and the unforgiving Queensland heat—the Guzzler isn’t just a race; it’s a 106 km test of heart, grit, and soul. And last weekend, my younger brother Rickie William Gibson—tough as all hell—took it on after 20 months with a busted Achilles and zero training. Not one run. "Just shoes on and hit the trail."

Almost 23 hours of nonstop moving. No excuses. No hesitation. With his mate Bart by his side, he pushed through the pain, the heat, and the distance—and finished it like the warrior he is.

He’s done over 50 ultra races, but this one? This one was different. This wasn’t about fitness—this was about character. About toughness in all its forms. And Rickie is many forms of tough rolled into one.

He’s an inspiration to his eight kids (his four and my four), a machine on the trails, and someone the world could use a hell of a lot more of right now. And for me—the one I can always count on.

Proud doesn’t even scratch the surface—Just… wow.

Sit back and enjoy the video footage, e te whānau, and hopefully it inspires you to move today, tomorrow, and every day—NO EXCUSES!
